Jean and Dave wanted their kitchen to feel simple, utilitarian, and beautiful. They opted to keep all their drawer/door fronts maple veneer.
Retired Kerf Stools
Back in 2008, Kerf designed these bar stools for a local Seattle restaurant (Poppy). When the restaurant closed down, Jean and Dave were able to snag the stools for their own kitchen!
Problem solving
The post to the left of the range was originally meant to be removed, but it is load bearing. Kerf found an elegant way to incorporate it into the kitchen design with minimum disruption the openness of the countertop.
Unexpected and delightful
The cubbies coming off of the post, though not part of the original plan, are simple, functional, and such an interesting part of this kitchen.
Dishes in drawers
Storing dishware in drawers can feel counterintuitive to some, but it's incredibly functional and so easy to access. It is necessary in this kitchen because there are no upper cabinets in this layout.
Colorful cubbies of all sizes
Let us design an interesting composition for your bookcase. Adding color to the tops/sides/bottoms of a cubby gives a beautiful glow to the items inside.
